Vilas Rupawate demands immediate release of pending grants for vulnerable women, warns of protests.

Vilas Rupawate Warns Chief Minister – Release Pending Grants for Vulnerable Women Immediately or Face Intense Protests
Mumbai – Vilas Rupawate, the organizer of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and a prominent leader for the rights of vulnerable, oppressed, and marginalized communities in Maharashtra, has directly warned the state government. He has sent an email to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar, and Social Welfare Minister Sanjay Shirsat, demanding the immediate release of the grants that have been pending for the last four months. Rupawate has threatened to launch an intense protest if the grants are not released immediately.
Pending Grants for the Last Four Months – Vulnerable Communities in Crisis
In his email, Rupawate highlighted that the Maharashtra Niradhar Devdasi Mahila Sanghatana has been working for many years for the justice and rights of vulnerable communities, including widows, Devdasis, abandoned women, transgenders, sex workers, the blind, the disabled, Dalits, and tribals. The organization has staged semi-naked marches, head-shaving protests, demonstrations, and massive rallies at Shivaji Park and Oval Ground in Dadar to fight for their rights.
However, for the last four months, the Social Welfare Department has failed to distribute the grants meant for these vulnerable groups. As a result, their financial situation has become extremely dire. With inflation at an all-time high, the government's failure to release these funds has pushed many families to the brink of starvation.
₹4,000 Crore Allocation – Depriving the Poor to Help the Rich?
Rupawate has accused the government of diverting ₹4,000 crore from the Social Welfare Department to the Chief Minister’s and Deputy Chief Minister’s “favored sister.” He alleged that while the government is helping the wealthy by denying the rightful funds of the poor, it is creating a severe humanitarian crisis.
He also pointed out that Social Welfare Minister Sanjay Shirsat has admitted to this mismanagement. Rupawate called this situation a disgrace for Maharashtra, emphasizing that while the poor are starving, the government is prioritizing the financial needs of its close allies.
Warning of Intense Protest if Immediate Action is Not Taken
Rupawate has warned the government that the pending grants must be deposited into the beneficiaries' accounts immediately. If the government fails to take swift action, the Maharashtra Niradhar Devdasi Mahila Sanghatana will take to the streets and launch a large-scale protest. He demanded that the government address this matter with urgency to avoid facing massive unrest.
Rupawate has strongly urged the state government to take this issue seriously and release the pending grants without any further delay to provide relief to the vulnerable communities.
